Lower Local Government leaders from Buruli County have been urged to put the knowledge and skills acquired during a three-day induction into practice to improve leadership and service delivery at the grassroots.

The induction, which concluded on Wednesday, brought together leaders from lower local governments for capacity building in key areas of governance, including legislation, communication skills,cross-cutting issues, planning and budgeting, human resource management and mindset change.

Speaking on behalf of the participants ,Kijunjubwa Town Council LCIII Chairperson Jassi Yahaya commended facilitators from the Ministry of Local Government for equipping them with knowledge and skills to strengthen their leadership and improve the execution of their responsibilities.

Yahaya said the training had enhanced their understanding of their duties and would help them serve their communities more effectively.

He,however, appealed to the government to increase facilitation for lower local government leaders, saying improved support would motivate them to perform their duties more effectively.

Closing the induction,Masindi District Chairperson Patrick Wobusobozi challenged the leaders to apply the knowledge acquired and execute their mandates diligently, noting that the success of the training would be reflected in responsible leadership, sound decision-making and improved service delivery.

Wobusobozi urged the leaders to promote security, unity and peace in their respective communities, saying a peaceful and united population provides a strong foundation for development.

He also called on them to take a firm stand against corruption, urging them to uphold integrity, transparency and accountability in the execution of their duties.

The induction is part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of lower local government leaders to understand their mandates, improve governance and deliver services more effectively to communities.
