The Minister of State for Public Service,Hon.Lydia Wanyoto,has urged newly recruited staff in Masindi District to embrace their roles and contribute to the government's ambitious development agenda aimed at transforming Uganda's economy by 2040.

Wanyoto said the 91 newly inducted employees have joined the Public Service at a critical time when the government is implementing the Fourth National Development Plan(NDP IV)alongside the Tenfold Growth Strategy,which seeks to increase Uganda's Gross Domestic Product(GDP)from shs 50 billion to shs 500 billion by 2040.

She said the government is implementing 18 programmes,with public sector transformation among the key interventions,aimed at building a healthy,skilled and knowledgeable population capable of driving economic growth and productivity.

"I welcome you all into the Public Service of Uganda.You have come at a critical time when government is implementing the Fourth National Development Plan with the Tenfold Growth Strategy,which seeks to grow our country's GDP from shs 50 billion to shs 500 billion by 2040,"Wanyoto said.

She made the remarks on Friday last week while officiating at the closing ceremony of a five-day induction training for 91 newly recruited staff of Masindi District at the District headquarters.

Wanyoto encouraged the new employees to view their positions as an opportunity to contribute to improved service delivery and the achievement of national development priorities.

The District Vice Chairperson,Bright Mugume,who represented the District Chairperson,called on the new staff to uphold honesty,transparency and integrity in the execution of their duties.

Mugume said professionalism and accountability were essential in ensuring that public resources are used appropriately and that communities receive quality services.

The Principal Assistant Chief Administrative Officer,Musa Kyamiza,urged the participants to put the knowledge acquired during the induction training into practice and adhere to the Public Service Standing Orders.

Kyamiza said compliance with the established rules and regulations would help the new employees conduct themselves professionally and build successful careers in the Public Service.
