Masindi's water sector given green light

In abid to solve challenges that have hindered the performance of the Water Sector in extending sufficient water to rural communities within the district,the District leadership on Friday last week,sought to partner with National water and Sewerage Cooperation (NWSC) and Water Trust to solve the inadequate supply of water.
The partners have been brought on board not only to support in extension of water to communities, but also to bridge the capacity gap that had hit the water sector for long despite the deliberate intervention of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO),to re-align this sector to follow the Water and Environment Sector Grant Guidelines.
Members who attended the meeting that was held in the district council chambers, appreciated CAO after she told the meeting that she was appointed as a representative of all Local Government Accounting Officers as a technical advisor on National Committee for Water Policy in the Ministry of Water and Environment.
In his remarks,the District Chairperson, Cosmas Byaruhanga welcomed the partnership saying that this will enable fast track the completion of this year's Water projects timely.
The partners from NWSC and Water Trust pledged to work with the district to boost The water sector.
In his closure,the District Council Speaker, Moses Kirya lauded the partnership stressing that this has been long over due.
He however, appealed to National water and Sewerage Cooperation to cover up areas in the Municipality which are still under served interms of piped water.
