Masindi District Local Government has handed over three brand new motorcycles worth shs 17.85 million to selected Health Centre II facilities in a move aimed at strengthening healthcare service delivery,particularly community outreach programmes.

The motorcycles,each costing shs 5.95 million,Were officially handed over to facility in-charges during a ceremony held at the Masindi District headquarters.

While presiding over the handover,the Deputy Resident District Commissioner,Dhaala Sanon,commended the district leadership for prioritising the health sector through the procurement of the motorcycles.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the motorcycles responsibly to improve access to healthcare services within their communities.

Masindi District Chairperson,Patrick Wobusobozi,challenged the health facility in-charges to maximise the motorcycles by intensifying community outreach activities and extending essential health services to residents in hard to reach areas.

The Chief Administrative Officer,Samuel Ruhweza Kaija,cautioned the beneficiaries against mismanaging the motorcycles,emphasizing that government property should be properly maintained to ensure it serves its intended purpose for many years.

Speaking on behalf of the District Health Team,the Assistant District Health Officer in charge of Environmental Health,Patrick Baguma,said the motorcycles were allocated to health facilities that previously lacked reliable means of transport.The beneficiaries include Kasenene Health Centre II,Kisalizi Health Centre II,and Kijenga Health Centre II.

Baguma noted that the motorcycles will enhance supervision,disease surveillance ,community mobilisation and delivery of outreach health services,ultimately improving access to healthcare services across the district.
