Speaking to beneficiary communities at Waiga primary school,Masindi Deputy Resident District Commissioner Dhaala Sanon commended the contractor for delivering quality work on the newly commissioned classroom block. He urged school authorities to maintain the facility in good condition so that it continues to benefit learners for years to come.
Sanon also asked district leaders to consider providing the school with a reliable water source, such as a borehole, noting that the institution has no nearby source of water despite its large enrolment.
He said access to water would support the school's daily operations and improve the learning environment.
Waiga primary school has a total enrolment of 1,283 pupils, comprising 656 boys and 627 girls.
The Deputy RDC further appealed to parents and caregivers to support their children's education by contributing to dues agreed upon by Parents and Teachers Associations in government aided schools.
Masindi District Chairperson Patrick Wobusobozi commended government for allocating funds to school infrastructure, saying the investments would promote and enhance children's learning by improving the facilities available to them.
The District Secretary for Finance,Simon Byaruhanga, called on district leadership to provide additional facilities at Waiga primary school, observing that the school's high enrolment is not matched by the available infrastructure. He said expanding facilities would help accommodate the growing number of learners and improve the delivery of education.
District leaders urged beneficiary institutions to take responsibility for the commissioned projects though proper use, routine maintenance and cooperation with local authorities,so that the public investments translate into lasting improvements in service delivery.
