Masindi leaders tasked on poverty reduction and service delivery

The Senior Presidential Advisor in-charge of mobilisation in the Office of the President, retired Lieutenant Colonel Kibrai Ambaka,has called for collective efforts to combat poverty among communities in Masindi District.

Ambaka urged leaders working alongside technocrats,to refocus their efforts on mobilizing communities to engage in productive activities.He emphasized the importance of encouraging citizens to participate in government programs aimed at boosting household incomes.

He made the remarks on Tuesday this week, during a service delivery meeting held at the District headquarters.The meeting brought together district leaders, including heads of departments and security personnel and was organized by the Office of the President.

Ambaka also appealed to the Office of the Resident District Commissioner to collaborate closely with heads of departments in creating awareness and promoting government programs.
In addition,he called on the police to intensify community sensitisation on crime prevention through regular community meetings.

Speaking at the same meeting,the Masindi Chief Administrative Officer, Samuel Ruhweza Kaija, urged stakeholders to mobilize farmers and other producers to access the Agriculture Credit Facility (ACF)loans offered by the Bank of Uganda through partner financial institutions, including Pearl Bank Uganda.

He noted that officials from the Bank of Uganda are concerned about approximately shs 200 billion that remains un utilized under the facility, despite its potential to support farmers and boost production.

Kaija further revealed that the district has registered an increase in local revenue collection following the introduction of the Integrated Revenue Administration System (IRAS), which has helped reduce revenue leakages.

Meanwhile,the NRM District Vice Chairperson, Kassim Kabagonza called for the provision of a vehicle to facilitate the party's top district leadership in effectively monitoring the implementation of it's manifesto.He cited transport challenges as a major obstacle in overseeing government programs and projects.

On his part,the Resident District Commissioner, Darius Nandinda, appealed to the government to prioritize the recruitment of key health cardres to strengthen service delivery in the health sector.
